How many will be on my tour?

We like small group sizes with a maximum of 20 guests but really most of our tours will run at between 8 and 12 people.

What happens on a tour?

We aim for our tours to be relaxed and informal but of course we also need to run on time. All of our tours have built in time and space to get out and about, stretch your legs either on your own or with the group and of course do the things that you love. Whether that’s reading a book, taking a hike, tackling a painting or simply enjoying a drink and cake, we love beautiful places and we encourage all our passengers to take time to drink in the surroundings, take time with God and do the things that bring life to our souls.

As well as time to ‘be’, we also make time to ‘see’. It would be a huge shame to visit some places and not see the most popular attractions (as well as some more secret attractions!) as in our experience the popular attractions are usually popular for a reason! We do include entrance and tours of some attractions along the way but we often give you a choice when you arrive so that you’re not having to pay for something you’re not interested in. Your Tour Leader will help and advise you on what else you can do or see in the area.

What about meals?

We do usually include a few meals such as a ‘get to know you’ meal on the first night and a leaving meal on the last but as our tours are not ‘budget’ tours as such, we appreciate that people may want to save the pennies and eat at different places. At meal times your Tour Leader will advise you on the best places to eat and this gives you the option to find somewhere great and eat with your new friends or grab a book and curl up with a coffee and sandwich in the corner of a quaint tea house if you’re needing a little space. A full breakfast is always included each day.

Where do tours start and finish?

We don’t arrange your flights but we can sort out ferries, trains and Eurostar if required. Your tour usually begins at the first destination but we can easily arrange additional nights before and after your tour if you want to stay there a little longer. We can of course advise you of the best way to get to the starting destination and the cheapest time to arrive. Please read the itineraries and inclusions carefully and if there are any questions, you know where we are!

What’s the Spiritual Content of the tour?

We believe that if you want to go on a ‘spiritual’ tour then you will probably book a conference or retreat, there’s no shortage of those around. Equally whilst on holiday it’s a great opportunity to pray and spend extra time with God, many of us can download sermons by international speakers if we want to listen to preaching whilst we’re away. For this reason we don’t have any ‘formal’ teaching or prayer times on our tours. However, we do encourage you to spend as much time as possible with God, talk to and where possible minister to one-another. Your Tour Leader will be an experienced Christian and available for prayer and to lend a listening ear if this is something that is useful to you during your tour. If you are touring on a Sunday we also try to build in the option of visiting a local, English speaking church where we can.

Is it a dating thing?

No not at all. We are increasingly aware that for one reason or another, many Christians find themselves without a suitable travel partner when it comes to holidays. Some of these people may well be open to a new relationship but others may not. The tour is about having the safety and enjoyment of travelling with a like-minded group, the possibility of new friends and sharing in life’s adventures together.

What’s accommodation and rooming like?

As our passengers are usually over 30, we offer less of a ‘budget, backpacker’ style holiday and more of a luxury package. All our hotels are excellent 3* or 4* where possible and many have amenities such as a pool and wi fi. Our prices are based on twin rooms which means that you may well be sharing but there is of course always an option to pay a supplement for a single room.

Will I be the oldest / youngest there?

All of our tours are for over 30s and one of the greatest concerns that people have are the ages of the other travellers in the group. Some of our tours are labelled 'senior focus' and it's fair to assume that the average age of people on this tour will be much higher than our standard tours (that doesn't mean that 'younger' people can't join the tours, it's just something to be aware of). On our standard tours the age really does range from 30+ but on the whole the vast majority will be of working age with the highest proportion in their 30s or 40s. If you are in your young 30s then fear not, you may be the youngest but probably by months rather than decades!

What if I have special requirements?

Whether it's a food allergy, a physical limitation or something else then its very likely that we can still accommodate you on the tour of your choice. Whilst many of our tours provide the opportunity for walking or physical activities, these are not essential and our tour leader will always do everything possible to ensure that every member of the group gets everything they can and want to from the tour. If you have questions, concerns or particular needs please do speak to us. We're very happy to work with you to ensure you can still join the tour and get the most out of it.

Are the departures guaranteed?

In truth, no. However we are confident that the interest in our tours for 2016 is high enough that all tours will be running and could well be booked up quite quickly. If we have any concerns about number on a tour we will let you know in plenty of time and ensure that you are not left out of pocket and in most cases can also offer a suitable alternative for your dates.

Where are the group members from?

Although we started Solo Trips Together primarily for British Christians, we quickly found that interest was international. As a result we now run tours both in the UK and in Europe and you will find that other tour members will be from all corners of the world.
